Abstract
We investigate the fluctuations of light transmitted through static disorde red media in time and frequency domains. When the pulse duration of the inc ident light is much shorter than the typical time of flight through the med ium, fluctuations appear both in time and frequency domains and the uncerta inty relation, delta tau delta omega similar to 1 or delta tau delta E simi lar to (h) over bar, holds good in these fluctuations. We discuss the neces sary condition to observe this relation, Precise calculations of the correl ation functions also reveal that the exact shape and width of the correlati on functions depend on the pulse duration and the observation time. Experim ental results with picosecond pulses through thick and thin samples show go od agreement with the theoretical calculations.
