Abstract
The composites carbon-carbon (C/C) and carbon-epoxy resin (C/E) are promisi ng materials for osteosynthesis. The electrochemical properties of these co mposites immersed in physiologic solution modeling human liquids have been investigated by electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, potentiodynamic pol arization and microscopy. It was found that the electrochemical stability o f C/C composite significantly increased after deposition of pyrolytic carbo n on the composite surface. It was observed that deposited carbon forms a l ayer and seals cracks and pores on the surface. (C) 1998 Elsevier Science S .A. All rights reserved.
