The detection of anti-HCV antibodies performed on 985 blood donors was posi tive in 11.5 % of the samples. This preliminary study pointed out the high frequency of HCV in the Congolese population. A frequent HBV and HIV associ ation was noted. The range of contamination was 18-40 years of age. The mod es of transmission are still unclear.
