W. Werner et al., De novo malignant tumors after renal transplantation - guidelines for therapy in urological carcinomas, NIEREN HOCH, 27(10), 1998, pp. 461-467
A markedly increase of cancer in renal transplant recipients has been recog
nized. The annual malignancy incidence for such patients has been 0.5%. Thi
s is al,out 2.5 to 4.0% times higher than in the normal population, and it
is also known that carcinomas often occur in patients with terminal renal i
nsufficiency. The number of reported cases (single centre studies) is not h
igh, and particular in small centres there are not enough experiences in th
erapy under condition of immunosuppression. We describe our experiences and
give a review of the literature in de novo malignant tumors after renal tr
ansplantations. In urological carcinomas we have to treat on the same lines
of tumor treatment with the reduction of immunosuppression because rejecti
on crises occurred in a smaller number of tumor patients compared with othe
r kindney transplant patients.
