The reaction, of (2,6-i-Pr(2)C(6)H3)N(SiMe3)Si(OH)(3) (1) with Bu2Mg in THF
at room-temperature resulted in the formation of the magnesium silicate 2.
The core of the molecule consists of two four-membered, two six-membered,
and three eight-membered rings and can be regarded as a molecular magnesium
silicate soluble in conventional organic solvents.
