Positive ion electrospray mass spectra of arsenobetaine, AB, arsenocho
line, AK, monomethylarsonic acid, MMA, dimethylarsinic acid, DMA, tetr
amethylarsonium TMAs, arsenate, AsV, and arsenite,; AsIII, have been o
btained. When appropriate, negative ion electrospray mass spectra have
been performed, In order to clarify fragmentation pathways MS/MS spec
tra have also been recorded, Positive ion electrospray mass spectra ha
ve been found to be more useful for the identification of the organoar
senic compounds AB, AK, MMA, DMA and TMAs, whereas negative ion electr
ospray mass spectra is more suitable for the identification of the ino
rganic compounds AsV and Asm. (C) 1997 by John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.
