Adult onset Still's disease (AOSD) is a distinct clinical entity which affe
cts predominantly young adults aged 16-35 years. Onset in elderly individua
ls is exceptional. Several reports have suggested a viral trigger in the pa
thogenesis of this disease. We describe a 66-year-old woman who fulfilled t
he proposed diagnostic criteria of AOSD and suffered concurrently from acut
e Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) infection.
