A comparison of recovery boiler field experiments using various NOx reduction methods

This study is a comparison of different No-x reduction methods applied to r ecovery boilers. The methods compared are air staging, SNCR, and the newly developed NOx scrubber. Results show that air staging may yield a 30% NOx r eduction. In certain cases, the cost of the NOx scrubber may be very low an d operating costs are typically reasonable. The scrubber method does not af fect boiler operation, and it can be easily combined with other NOx reducti on methods.
