Abstract
A new diterpenoid, azorellanol (5), was isolated from the whole plant of Az orella compacta (Umbelliferae). The structure was established by using main ly one- and two-dimensional NMR techniques, whereas the absolute stereochem istry was determined by X-ray diffraction analysis. The diterpenoid (5) pos sesses a novel hydrocarbon skeleton for which we suggest the name azorellan e (C) 1998 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.
