Abstract
The structure of yttrium stabilized ZrO2 crystals with intermediate seam la yers of CeO2 and SrTiO3 has been studied by transmission electron microscop y (TEM). Such crystals were fabricated by the solid phase intergrowth metho d (SPI). The interfaces between ZrO2 and CeO2 layers were blurred compared to the sharp interfaces between CeO2 and SrTiO3 layers. The CeO2 layers wer e single crystalline with a high density of defects. The SrTiO3 layers cons isted of columnar grains. Epitaxial relationships have been established.
