Abstract
A system is presented that allows the visualization of the whole welding pr ocess. Factors that can lead to bad welds can be monitored. Methods to opti mize the welding process are outlined and a possible "on-line control" is d iscussed. in addition, schemes are presented for the analysis of the weldin g process to identify defects in the welding equipment that will cause faul ty welds.
