The top of the third cyclone stage of the raw meal preheater and the inlet
cone of the rotary kiln were refined at Gmundner Zement Produktions- und Ha
ndels GmbH in Austria in August 1997 using SHOT-KAST(R) technology. The wor
k was carried out with compositions based on bauxite/SiC and fireclay with
a low cement content. The decisive factor in the choice of this lining tech
nology, which is new in Europe, teas the very short time required to carry
out the lining work. As expected, no wear was found in either the cyclone t
op or the inlet cone of the rotary kiln during an intermediate inspection a
fter 5 months in operation.
