Bis(1-benzyl-4-aza-1-azoniabicyclo[2.2.2]octane) peroxodisulfate (1), is re
adily prepared as an orange solid from commercially available 1,4-diazabicy
clo[2.2.2]octane and potassium peroxodisulfate. This reagent easily convert
s hydrazones, semicarbazones, oximes, and alcohols to the corresponding car
bonyl compounds with excellent yields.
