Abstract
The influence of relative air moisture, temperature, and concentration of c arbon dioxide on the carbonation of magnesium oxide and hydroxide have been studied in normal climatic conditions. The MgO and Mg(OH)(2) used for this original work are pure granular materials. The different species that appe ar during the process of carbonation and the most stable form in usual cond itions of storage were identified. Moreover, the study of the different cli matic factors showed that the carbonation is never complete even after a pr olonged exposure.
