The results obtained in the structure determinations of various semiconduct
ors, carbides, nitrides, hydrides, and organic compounds by electron diffra
ction structure analysis (EDSA) are reviewed. The EDSA determinations confi
rmed by other independent methods are considered. These examples justify th
e use of the kinematical approximation with the introduction of corrections
for dynamical scattering to some intense reflections in structure determin
ations.
