Abstract
A laboratory prototype of the expert system Electron for the automatic inte rpretation of electron diffraction patterns has been described. A high-leve l language providing storage and processing of knowledge is developed as we ll as a user interface for work with images. The Electron expert system can play the part of a consultant and also serve as an electron diffraction te xtbook when teaching crystallography.
