Anisotropy of microhardness in lithium tetraborate (Li2B4O7) single crystal
s has been studied by the sclerometry method on the (001) and (00(1) over b
ar) polar faces. The anisotropy of microhardness is interpreted in terms of
anisotropy of bonding in the crystal and the position of the cleavage plan
es with respect to a moving indenter.
