In this communication an attempt has been made to analyse the effect of wat
er flow over the condensing cover of an inverted absorber solar still on th
e internal heat transfer coefficients. It has been observed that, for a par
ticular flow rate, the evaporative heat transfer coefficient decreases as w
e increase the water depth in the basin. The radiative and convective heat
transfer coefficients, though, do not vary much. Numerical computations hav
e been performed for a typical day of Delhi weather. The results obtained h
ave been compared with those of a conventional still. (C) 1998 Elsevier Sci
