Abstract
Preliminary IR spectroscopic observation of the nu(s) band of complexe d HCl in a supersonic jet expansion of dimethyl ether-hydrogen chlorid e seeded with argon is presented. It is characterized by a structurele ss, asymmetric absorption, 25 cm(-1) full-width at half-maximum, cente red at 2460 cm(-1). Its assignment to the fundamental transition agree s with the assignment initially proposed by Lassegues and Huong [Chem. Phys. Lett. 17 (1972) 444] and allows a re-examination in more detail of the gas cell data for both DME:HCl and DCl dimers.
