Abstract
The current significant role of transmission electron microscopy in the eva luation of soft tissue tumors when correlated with conventional histologica l and immunohistochemical studies is discussed far the following entities: myxofibrosarcoma, storiform-pleomorphic fibrosarcoma (malignant fibrous his tiocytoma), and myofibrosarcoma; dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans; hemangiop ericytoma; monophasic synovial sarcoma; extrarenal rhabdoid tumor; soft tis sue perineurioma; and gastrointestinal stromal rumors, notably the so-calle d autonomic nerve variant.
