Abstract
This paper presents an implicit Boundary Element Method (BEM) algorithm wit h the consistent tangent operator (CTO) for axisymmetrically elastoplastic problems and is an extended Version of previous work [1] (Bonnet and Mukher jee, Int J Solids Structures 1995; 33: 4461-80). Numerical implementation f ollows Bonnet and Muhkejee's treatment. The implicit BEM approach with CTO has successfully been used to solve usual and sensitivity problems in 1-D [ 1] or 2-D [6] (Poon et al., Engng Anal Bound Elem 1998, in press) elastopla sticity. Numerical results, based on the present method, for a thick-walled cylinder under internal pressure are presented here and are shown to be in good agreement with the analytical solutions.
