Abstract
Let G be a locally compact, sigma-compact group. We prove that the equivari ant KK-theory, KKG, is the universal category for functors from G-algebras to abelian groups which are stable, homotopy invariant and split-exact. Thi s is a generalization of Higson's characterization of (non-equivariant) KK- theory.
