Abstract
Molybdenum disulfide crystallites has been synthesized from MoO3, S, and N2 H4H2O in pyridine at 300 degrees C for 12 h with good yield(> 90%), The pro duct is characterized by X-ray powder diffraction (XRD) and transmission el ectron microscopy (TEM), XRD and IR analysis show that pure MoS2 has been p repared. TEM shows that these nanoparticles are in the form of platelets. H ere, a bi-step transition process from MoO3 to MoO2 and from MoO2 to MoS2 i s proposed. (C) 1998 Academic Press.
