PEG - Rare early and long-term complications

PEG is a clinically well established method to ensure enteral long term nut rition in case of swallowing disturbances which are not otherwise curable. Severe complications are seen relatively seldom. However, they do occure, t hey often take an unfavourable course mostly in the case of multi morbid pa tients. The following five case studies describe such complications. Pruden t planning of the operation and competent after-care are essential to reduc e the risk factors.
