Abstract
A series of metalloporphyrin-containing cyclic hosts has been prepared, whi ch are electronically and geometrically programmed to recognize guests in a particular configuration. Electronic control is achieved by substituting t he C-H meso positions with carbonyl groups, while geometric control is poss ible in the choice of the length of the rigid acetylene porphyrin linkers.
