PHS mobile communication system for simultaneous voice and image transmission

This paper proposes a mobile multimedia communication system using PHS and ISDN. Experiments confirmed that a trial system can simultaneously transmit voice with the same quality as PSTN telephone and motion pictures having, frame rate of one per second at an image size of 160 x 120 pixels. This sys tem was provided to the security department of the Organizing Committee for the XVIII Olympic Games, Nagano 1998 (NAOC) and was put to practical use f or the remote observation in remote sites.
