Abstract
We model the interaction of Ta, clusters (n = 1, 2, 4, 9) of 555 eV/atom en ergy with a graphite (1000) surface. The mean penetration depth of the clus ter atoms as well as the depth of the center of the damage zone increase wi th cluster size. The number of disordered atoms increases superlinearly wit h the cluster size. For the case of Ta-2 - and to a lesser extent also for Ta-4 - cluster orientation affects the results.
