Abstract
The three major syndromes of pelvic floor dysfunction-urinary incontinence, anal incontinence, and pelvic organ prolapse-are considered with respect t o their prevalence, incidence, and remission. The natural history and devel opment of pelvic floor dysfunction, including potential areas for preventio n strategies, are also considered.
