Abstract
Creation of the metallic state of hydrogen is a physics issue of general in terest. We show, with the help of numerical simulations, that this may be p ossible with a heavy ion beam using the SIS facility at GSI Darmstadt. (C) 1998 Elsevier Science B.V.
