Abstract
A high grade continuous centrifugal (supplied by Broadbent) was commissione d at Darnall in 1996. Considerable effort has gone into evaluating the perf ormance of this machine and some modifications have been carried out. Resul ts of tests and experiences of operating the continuous centrifugal are rev iewed. VHP sugar is produced at massecuite throughputs of up to 25 ton/h. M oisture content and purity rise are higher than those achieved with the exi sting Batch centrifugals. Lump formation and crystal breakage have not been evident.
