Abstract
3,5-dinitrobenzoic acid, 1 and 3,5-dinitro-4-methylbenzoic acid, 2, form co crystals with 4,4'-bipyridyl but only the latter forms a layered structure, which can incorporate anthracene molecules. Furthermore, 2 forms a pillare d type structure with thionicotinamide. (C) 1998 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.
