Abstract
We report on a mucoepidermoid carcinoma (MEC) of the lung in a 6-year-old g irl with a t(11;19)(q14-21;p12) as the sole karyotypic abnormality. An appa rently identical t(11;19) has been reported previously in a MEC originating from the major and minor salivary glands. Our findings indicate that the t (11;19) is intimately associated with the mucoepidermoid phenotype and may be used as a diagnostic marker for this tumour type.
