Abstract
Poly(silarylene)s with amide groups and oxymethylene flexible spacers in a backbone were synthesized. It was shown that the polymers with an even numb er of methylene groups in a spacer are capable of forming an LC state uf sm ectic or nematic type. When a spacer contains an odd number of methylene gr oups, no LC phase is formed.
