Chronic wound fluid (CWF) is known to inhibit the growth of neonatal fibrob
lasts in vitro. This inhibitory effect is abolished by heating wound fluid
to 100 degrees C. In the present study, it was found that the inhibitory ef
fects of CWF upon the growth of neonatal fibroblasts in vitro is very tempe
rature sensitive and can be reduced by minimal temperature increases.
