Autopsies of 12 consecutively born infants with anencephaly showed varying
degrees of aganglionosis and lateralization defects in four of them. This s
eemingly regular occurrence of these three defects together suggests that t
hey are caused by an aberration of blastogenesis that results in a polytopi
c field defect. Am. J. Med. Genet. 80: 518-520, 1998. (C) 1998 Wiley-Liss,
