In a histological survey of 1606 Atlantic salmon from south eastern Tasmani
a only one infection with Kudoa thyrsites and one with Pleistophora sp. wer
e detected. Possible reasons for these low prevalences are discussed. Incid

melanoma, thyroid tumors, chronic inflammatory tissue and abscess. (C) 1998
