Based on correlation radial-velocity measurements, we found the primary com
ponent in the visual binary system ADS 9167 = HD 124640 to be st single-lin
ed spectroscopic binary with a 2.87-yr period and 0.75 eccentricity. The vi
sual components are of spectral type K2 V, while the secondary component of
the spectroscopic pair is probably a red K6 V dwarf. Using the 26-year-lon
g series of Pulkovo photographic relative-position observations, we compute
a new visual orbit of AB with a period of about 1000 years by the method o
f apparent-motion parameters. The errors in its elements are estimated. The
accuracy of the photographic measurements turns out to be not enough to co
nstruct an astrometric orbit of the 2.87-yr subsystem with a semimajor axis
of similar to 0.024 ". ADS 9167 shows a moderately high space velocity and
a slightly reduced metallicity.
