Secondary screening of transconjugant clones mediated by a lytic bacteriophage

Due to the lack of suitable chromosomal markers, antibiotics could not be u sed to select transconjugant crones arising from matings between two Pseudo monas strains. As an alternative, a method based on the specificity of a ly tic bacteriophage for the recipient strain was used successfully.
