Abstract
Within the framework of the extended optical model, the gross resonant stru ctures of the fusion excitation functions and the elastic scattering excita tion functions for the C-12 + C-12 and the O-16 + Ne-20 systems are describ ed well by using deep optical potentials. The origin of the gross resonant structures and the effect of the deep potential and the parity-dependent po tential are discussed.
