A mechanism for the integration of TQM and MRPII

This paper presents a quality management system based on Manufacturing Reso urce Planning (MPRPII). A real-time monitoring system is used to acquire th e information necessary for MRPII to drive quality management over this fra mework, Firstly, the concept of Total Quality Management (TQM) is overlaid on the structure of MRPII. Secondly, quality management activities in manuf acturing systems are used to shape the manufacturing database concept and i nformation models of various manufacturing activities. Finally, a complete dynamic system model setting out the architecture of a proactive resource p lanning environment that encapsulates quality management is derived. (C) 19 98 Elsevier Science Ltd.
