We attempted telephone communication of the results of cardiac cathete
rization and/or intervention to primary care physicians for 100 patien
ts in a health maintenance organization. Phone calls during workday of
fice hours required 3.5 minutes per patient and provided personal cont
act with the primary care physician for only 65% of the patients.
