Dt. Arotiba et Jt. Arotiba, Anatomic classification of intraosseous ameloblastoma as a guide to surgical management, E AFR MED J, 75(7), 1998, pp. 406-410
This paper discusses current knowledge of the growth characteristics and bi
ologic behaviour of the solid-multicystic ameloblastoma (classic intraosseo
us ameloblastoma). The clinical prognostic factors that could influence sur
gical treatment planning are highlighted. An anatomic classification that m
ay serve as a guide to surgical management is proposed. We advocate that st
rict adherence to these surgico-therapeutic guidelines and a uniform anatom
ic classification would allow meaningful comparison of treatment outcomes r
eported by surgeons from different parts of the world.
