Abstract
A 15 m x 10 m plot was established at 3,4, 5, and 6-years of plantation age of A.mangium located in one forest concession area in South Sumatra, Indon esia In each plot, available fuel, fuel moisture content, seed storage on a nd under the soil surface, tree height, and diameter are measured before bu rning. 3 ton/ha of fuel loads and 8 cm fuel bed depths were used as treatme nt. Flame length and flame temperature using Tempilaq (temperature indicati ng liquid) is measured during burning. Fires were set on the sides all side s of the plot at the same time. After burning, fuel remaining, natural seed ling regeneration in the forest floor, injured trees, crown scorch, and shr ub invasion were calculated.
