Abstract
The range spanned by a clock time error is a random quantity that can be st atistically characterised. The paper considers the case of clock affected b y white phase noise and the range probability laws are inferred. From the p robability distribution, the percentile Maximum Time Interval Error, MTIE(t au, beta), can be estimated and the relationship between frequency domain a nd time domain are discussed.
