Mouse serum polyreactive antibodies (PRAB), which are able to interact with
various serologically unrelated antigens, substantially influence the prol
iferation of mouse L929 fibroblasts transformed by 3-methylcholanthrene. Ei
ther short-time treatment of L929 cells with PRAB or their combined cultiva
tion lead to suppression of density-dependent inhibition of growth. The qua
ntity of giant cells did not differ from control, PRAB also is able to infl
uence strongly the tumour development, induced by injection of Lewis carcin
oma cells subcutaneously to C57BI mice. Preincubation of Lewis carcinoma ce
lls by PRAB leads to a significant acceleration of tumour development in co
mparison to control. Similar effect was challenged by intramuscle and/or su
bcutaneous injection of PRAB to mice before or after injection of Lewis car
cinoma cells.
