Abstract
Medetomidine (30 mu g/kg) alone produced moderate sedation and analgesia fo r 60 min, whereas co-administration of medetomidine (30 mu g/kg) and diazep am (1.5 mg/kg) produced complete anaesthesia for about 120 min in atropine (0.60 mg) premedicated dogs. In both the groups, respiration rate decreased ; but heart rate, arterial pressure and central venous pressure increased s ignificantly after the administration of drugs, however, the effects were m ore marked in the combination group. No significant differences were seen i n Hb, PCV, TEC and TLC values in animals of both the groups.
