Abstract
Absidiosis was produced experimentally in 18 buffalo calves by intravenous inoculation of spores of Absidia corymbifera. Infected animals exhibited du llness, depression, partial anorexia and initial pyrexia and coughing durin g the first week. Six animals died, 2 each on 9, 13 and 16 DPI. The experim ent was continued for 35 days. The gross and microscopic pathological lesio ns in all the infected animals were seen mainly in the lungs, except in 1 a nimal, which died on 9 DPI and in which mycotic granulomas were seen in the heart and kidneys also. Microscopic lesions exhibited the formation of wel l developed granulomas in the lungs. Fungal elements were demonstrated in t he lung lesions up to 29 DPI. Re-isolation of fungus was achieved consisten tly from the lung lesions up to 29 DPI.
