Abstract
This paper presents electrical performance and propagation characteristics of self-shielded uniplanar guided-wave structures including circular, ellip tic, diamond, and trapezoidal enclosures. Enhanced spectral domain approach is extended to characterize guided-wave property of these self-shielded li nes. Particular attention is focused on fundamental mode propagation consta nt and characteristic impedance of coupled uniplanar line having a practica l shield profile. Influeuce of various parameters of the structure on cutof f frequency of the slotline made is investigated. Interesting features of t he self-shielded uniplanar structures are discussed for design consideratio n. Results are verified with some data available and presented in support o f the technical discussion. (C) 1999 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
