A 57-year-old man experienced acute anterior myocardial infarction and had
been admitted to another hospital 1.5 months earlier. He visited our outpat
ient department because of experiencing mild dyspnea on exertion. Two-dimen
sional echocardiography revealed left ventricular systolic dysfunction, lef
t ventricular apical aneurysm formation, as well as left ventricular thromb
us at the low septal apical region. The thrombus decreased in size and then
resolved completely after anticoagulant therapy. No evidence of systemic e
mbolism was seen during the course of anticoagulant therapy. In conclusion,
anticoagulant therapy is effective for the resolution of left ventricular
thrombus after myocardial infarction.
