M. Patibandla et P. Chandra, Organizational practices and employee performance: the case of the Canadian primary textile industry, J ECON BEH, 37(4), 1998, pp. 431-442
This study investigates variations in the adoption of different organizatio
nal practices and productivity using a survey of the Canadian primary texti
le industry. The results suggest that monitoring and profit-sharing are sub
stitutes. The effectiveness of these practices in eliciting high employee p
erformance depends on the size of organizations and adoption of complementa
ry practices. Profit-sharing practice appears to be more effective in small
firms than large firms. (C) 1998 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved
